My first review!
WatchMojo: Top 10 2023 TV Shows You Need to Binge (2023). I read Hughes’ trilogy years ago and enjoyed the books immensely. When I randomly scrolled through IMDB and found SILO, I was instantly interested. I can see some pretty mixed opinions and I can relate to some of them, here’s my first review of the season. First, I love dystopian literature!
It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows the plot
The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in hypothetical situations. My fascination with the trilogy was strengthened because Hughes was able to develop Orwellian ideas in a hypothetical that is relevant to the modern world. Depicting the development of the human psyche in dystopian situations is a challenging task. I think Hughes did a wonderful job, and SILO captures many of these elements in a refreshing way. It is based on the books, but naturally the viewers have to adapt to a fast-paced world.
The acting for the main characters is fantastic
Nevertheless, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in a silo. In contrast to the shallow storylines of other shows, «SILO» has a wonderful blend of character development and atmospheric focus. The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and capturing Juliet. They lack the atmospheric development of the silo as a society.
Give it a try!
Naturally, that should appeal to the audience that receives it.
